All praise, all glory, and all honor be unto GOD the Father and Our LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ! It is good to learn and to teach and to be taught in GOD according to and by The Spirit of GOD. GOD has given unto us, “The Apostles of the Most High GOD” to train the Ministers of The Most High GOD, according to The Word of GOD and by The Spirit of GOD, that they might be able to serve him in Spirit and in Truth! That the Ministers in turn will be able to train “The true Born again Children of GOD,” how to serve him in Spirit and in Truth, according to his mighty Word. In order to do this, they must understand who they are in GOD that they may be able to serve GOD and the Body of Christ.
There are many who present themselves or claim to be the Evangelist of GOD, yet do not understand the ministry of an Evangelist, nor how to be used by GOD so that GOD might be glorified. Though the examples of an Evangelist are given within the Word of GOD they refuse to “read” and “study” and follow the examples shown in the Word and conform to what GOD has set in order. This ministry is different from the other ministries in that it is a combination of ministries and can come with many talents. Evangelists are the ones that are primarily responsible for leading sinner man to Christ. They preach the gospel so that men might be saved (not saying that all ministers are not preachers). GOD has gifted them to be able to go out and reach souls that are lost and to go into areas many do not want to go (prisons, homeless shelters, nursing homes, etc.). Their heart goes out to many and that is why you will find them developing programs that will help others (food banks, feeding the homeless, providing clothing, taking care of children and the fatherless, etc.). GOD has gifted them that many are able to sing or play instruments or other skills or talents.
The evangelist of GOD is apt to teach and also from time to time given to prophecy or be used by GOD to prophesy. This being said they must be well prepared in both areas, and have an understanding of both ministries (Prophet and Teacher). Many want the calling of an Evangelist but lack the commitment or patience it takes to be one. We see the example of Philip the Evangelist (Acts 8:5-12 and 27 -40) and the things GOD used him to do (preach, perform miracles, cast out devils, expound on the Word of GOD, lead sinner man to Christ, etc.) and want to be like him. Not understanding Philip was full of The Holy Ghost and with The Power of GOD. In order to be used as he was we must be committed to GOD and to his Word (have a relationship with GOD).
This ministry is unique because it is a combination of two ministries, Prophet and Teacher. Prophet because they often operate outside of the Body of Christ and the Lord uses them to speak “His Will” and be a check and balance of things being prophesied.
As a Teacher of GOD because they work outside of the Body of Christ, and congregation, and are used as the primary teacher and sometimes the first teacher some will experience. Ready to teach the word to all who will hear. Lovers of the Word of GOD and dedicated to studying and research.
The Evangelist must have a heart for the needy, oppressed, poor, sick and outcast. They see what GOD can do, that most will miss and are willing to get their hands dirty for the sake of the soul. Time is never the focus, but they are committed to letting their work speak for them, so GOD may get the glory. They are focused on putting the individual first and that the complete individual’s needs are met. Food, clothing, shelter, job, etc. They truly become all things to all men to win some for Christ.
There is no spirit like that of an Evangelist. Many will wonder why when it comes to dealing with some people, but to the Evangelist it is the challenge of winning the soul that drives them. Not for self-glory, or some reward but so that soul may experience the love of GOD.
Many will call themselves an Evangelist because it is popular in the House of GOD in today’s time but will fade once the task gets too difficult because they don’t have the heart required and needed in this ministry. It is not a ministry for the weak, impatience and quick tempered. Nor unkind and not able to express the “Love of GOD.” You cannot force things in this ministry but wait on the leading of the Lord.
The Evangelist really must be in tune with the Spirit of GOD so not to overreach with someone and hurt the individual more than they help them. It is okay to question the Lord, not in doubt but to ensure they are hearing correctly for the mission. It is always about the Lord, the individual and the mission. Just as a Boy Scout, being prepared at all times.
A true Evangelist of GOD is consecrated and ordained by GOD. One of the five ministries listed in Eph. 4:11. Sold out to and committed to The Gospel of Christ and the Work of GOD. Does not consider themselves but puts others first. A warrior, bold but yet humble and gentle. Their motto; Whatever it takes in GOD!
It is good to teach and to be taught as I am continually being taught each and every day by The Spirit of GOD. When we become unteachable GOD can’t use you for his purpose. We will never know all there is to learn in GOD (not in this life). GOD does however want us to evolve in him. When an Evangelist does not understand their ministry, who they are, they become a liability and can do great damage in The House of GOD, rather than be a blessing to the Body of Christ and to GOD. They cannot be used by GOD to help build the Church. Their work many times is outside of the Body, as they are being used by GOD to bring others in through preaching and the works of GOD so that The Church of GOD may continue to grow. The Evangelist preaches to sinner man or uses other works (music, singing, praise, miracles, healings, prophecy, prophesying, etc.) that they might come to the knowledge of Christ, become a part of The body of Christ, that they might in turn be taught by The Teachers of GOD (or other Ministers) how to live as Christ. This is what the “Whole body fitly joined together is all about (ministers working together, Ephesians 4:16).
The Word of GOD is talking about spiritual things and only applies to those that are spiritual (see 1 Cor 2:14). It can only be taught by those that have the Spirit of GOD dwelling in them. A man can read the Word front to back cover to cover and without being Born Again and filled with The Holy Ghost, they will only get their own natural or carnal understanding of what they think the Word is saying. They then go about to establish their own righteousness rather than righteousness according to The word of GOD. They then go about to do their own thing or begin to “wing it;” say what they want to say or teach what they want to teach. This is not GOD! It is also a stench in GOD’s nostrils. A true Evangelist will allow GOD to use them to show sinner man by the scriptures or other spiritual means The Truth in GOD. We don’t need to be able to quote scripture “verbatim,” we need to understand the scriptures and provide “righteous teaching” according to The Word of GOD and by The Spirit of GOD. GOD can use men of GOD filled with his Spirit to teach us things (the writings by the Holy Apostles in the New Testament).
An Evangelist of GOD is apt to teach and should be ready to give an answer of every man that ask him (by the Word of GOD and led by The Spirit). “If any man speak let him speak as the oracles of GOD.” That means my answer will always be according to GOD (the Word says, The Master says, GOD hath said, The LORD said, etc.). They will know how to prove GOD is GOD according to his Word. They will never be out of order or be a disruption to the Body of Christ. They will be able to guard The Body of Christ against “False Evangelists (those attempting to mislead the Children of GOD).”
The Ministry of an Evangelist can be male or female. To be a true Evangelist of GOD, you must have a spiritual relationship with GOD. You must be willing to seek GOD’s face (pray), read and study the word and be willing to hear from him and what he has to say and show them by the scriptures or through prophecy or by other spiritual means. An Evangelist must be committed to GOD, willing to make the sacrifice of time and self. Devote some of their time to reading and studying, and a lot of their time to be used by GOD for other works. Why do I keep saying reading and studying? Because there is a difference between the two. When we study we go word by word, line by line, stop take time to research to get an understanding, use other tools if necessary; i.e. concordance, dictionary, Greek, Hebrew or whatever it takes o gain the correct understanding of what the Word or a scripture is saying. Always pray before studying.
The enemy will constantly be sending and creating distractions in your life in order to keep you from studying (family, job, relationships, finances, spouse, children, etc.). When you are focused on the things of this life and this world, it is impossible to focus on the things of GOD, or to receive from GOD or see what GOD is trying to show you! An Evangelist must be devoted to studying in order to come to and obtain the wisdom and knowledge of GOD. They must also be willing to be used by GOD at any time and in any place. They should always have an area that they can go to (at home, or away) and study. In today’s electronic world they should have a copy of The Word of GOD on all electronic devices as well as a physical copy of The Word of GOD.

GOD the Father has blessed the Evangelists of GOD with many examples of righteous teaching throughout his Word. It is inexcusable for an Evangelist to say, “I didn’t know,” or “I was never taught.” It should be that important for an Evangelist to want to learn their Ministry/Craft and how to serve GOD according to The Word of GOD and in Spirit and in truth. I pray that as an Evangelist of The Most High GOD you will give GOD his due, and learn to be a blessing to him and the Body of Christ and to be used by GOD. There is no greater honor! Evangelist Study
